Was Sagan a Comfort Seeker?

Hello,

I came upon your essay by chance and quite liked it. It's a very good point that a belief in an afterlife is no more comforting than the opposite point of view. Did you hear about the letter sent to a well-known publication (I think PARADE mag. but I may be mistaken) shortly after Sagan's death? It said something like "now that he's dead, Carl Sagan is probably not an atheist any more". It caused quite a stir. I look forward to reading more of your essays.
