HALL OF FAME



There have been many people from Pennsylvania who have contributed greatly to all our lives. Some have become very famous, while others have been forgotten by many. It is difficult to understand, for example, how the contributions of people like George Marshall or Rachel Carson can be largely ignored. It is hoped that this page will serve as an introduction to some of these Pennsylvanians, famous or not, who have been important in our lives.

There have also been many events of nationwide or worldwide importance that have happened within Pennsylvania's boundaries. Again, some , such as Gettysburg, are well known, but many do not know of the importance of, for example, the Whiskey Rebellion.


This site is meant only as an introduction, to provide some basic information on some important Pennsylvania people and events. Further information is available elswhere, and should be used.

Also, to be most useful the pages should load quickly. Therefore, basic html is used, and fancy graphics and pictures are not.


In order for a person to be on this list, at least one of the following must be true:

They must have:
-been born in Pennsylvania
-been raised in Pennsylvania
-done the work that made him/her famous mostly in Pennsylvania.


In order for an event to be listed, it must have happened wholly or predominantly within the borders of Pennsylvania.
