Purpose of the Club:
To preserve, collect and enjoy the music of the past, focusing
on R&B, rock and roll, and pop, as popularized by Pittsburgh
dejays from the late 40's through the 60's era.
Membership:
- Members are requested to fill out an application form
asking for the following data: Name, Address, Phone, Age (optional),
Occupation, Area of interest/specialty and are you willing to
play samples of your record collection on club meeting nights.
- To join Club, requires an initial payment of $30 which
gives member the first 3 months dues; thereafter dues are $10
per month and paid on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
- Dues entitles member to host one guest at meeting or concert.
- Dues delinquent for 90 days results in ejection from the
Club. To rejoin requires minimum $30 payment; deliquents name
will be added to bottom of waiting list if applicable. Membership
will be limited to 300.
- Should membership be secured after a concert has been
staged and that new member wants to attend next concert, the
new member will be required to pay the value of monthly dues
retroactive to the month following the previous concert.
Miscellaneous:
Roberts Rules of Order will apply to all meetings.
Concerts sponsored by Club will take place at locations
to be announced. Dinners will be made available; dinner purchase
is not required to attend concerts. Reservation and payment for
dinners required one week prior to show (NO EXCEPTIONS). There
will be no reserved tables except for those attending dinner.
Club financial account established through the Irvin Works
Federal Credit Union. Two signatures required on all checks.
All expense payments require receipts. Purchase of printing
or postage is pre-approved with receipt given to Treasurer.
Concerts will be videotaped (when permitted by groups)
and made available to members at cost.
There will be no recording of concerts by anyone other
than person/persons authorized by the Club.
Election of a Board of Directors to be conducted six months
after 200 member level is reached, then yearly thereafter.
In addition to bringing in musical acts, the Club will
seek to host speakers involved in the Pittsburgh music scene,
those involved in record production, radio, songwriting, performing,
etc.
Club will also seek to collect historical data related
to the Pittsburgh Sound, for submission to historical society
or other preservation agency.
Club will encourage former groups to reform in order to
perform for members, either acapella or with accompaniment.
Members will receive newsletter, which will included latest
financial statements.
