Haseltine Family Genealogy Page
Two brothers, Robert and John Haseltine, emigrated to New England in 1637 in a group of about sixty families from Yorkshire and Devonshire, England. They and their leader, the Rev. Ezebiel Rogers began a new settlement in Rowley, MA. This settlement grew to encompass the present towns of Rowley, Georgetown, Boxford and Bradford.
The surname Haseltine has evolved into various additional spellings such as: Hazeltine, Hasaltine, and Hazelton. It was originally Hazelden, from hazel a tree or shrub, and den a valley.
Robert and John Haseltine took the freeman's oath on May 13, 1640. This web page outlines some of the descendents of John Haseltine.
