Four girls in our troop went on a Wider Op trip to Arizona which was sponsored by our council from June 28th to July 7, 1999. There were 15 people on the trip -10 Cadettes and Seniors and 5 adults.
They flew out of Phildelphia Airport and landed in Phoenix right around noontime so they still had most of the day to enjoy the sights. They rented two vans and spent the first night in Flagstaff and left early the next morning for the Grand Canyon.......
While there, they went on a guided tour & a hayride.
They started their hike into the canyon about 4:30AM so they would be partly down into the canyon for the sunrise.
They also drove through Monument Valley and stopped at 4 Corners Monument and had their pictures taken while standing in all 4 states: Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah.
Another highlight of their trip was a 3 day rafting trip on the San Juan River in Utah.
They traveled from Bluffs to Mexican Hat. They slept either in tents or under the stars.
They also hiked along the river and climbed up to the Anasazi Indian ruins.
