It has been six years since I have been in the ring. Oh how I have missed it, and am glad I am able to show again.  The years that we spent raising puppies for the Leader Dog for the Blind program has been very fullfilling and rewarding. The puppies that made the program will live in our hearts forever.

The picture below was taken at DCA held in Oshkosh, Wi. 2002. Altho Shadow didn't win, it was wonderful seeing him in the ring with Carlos Puig. At first Carlos was unsure if he could even show Shadow. He is very much my dog. After spending the night with Carlos, away from me Shadow acted like he had known Carlos forever.

Shadow needed to go too a few shows just for the experience. So winning was not a priority. Before Shadow could win he needed to feel comfortable around other surrounding and noise. Up until the Midwest Dachshund Club Specialty I was thinking of putting Shadow on a Handler. I was having difficulty with him on the table. He would either sit or lean against me when the judge approached us. Fortunatly, he stacked very well and took winners dog. The entry was small so he received only 1 point, but you have to start somewhere. The two shows following the Specialty Shadow took Breed both days.
