ASK DALE MURPHY

The Atlanta Journal and Constitution had a column in the 80's named "Ask Dale Murphy". Children could write in their questions to Dale and, if they were lucky, he'd answer them in the paper and win free tickets and an autographed copy of the "Ask Dale Murphy" book. Well, Mommy wrote in many, many questions and finally, on Saturday, September 5, 1987, Dale answered her! Grandma has the article framed in their house for all to see. I typed out this historic letter for you to read. Enjoy! Keep in mind, she was only 14 years old when she wrote this! How cute! :-)

Another boy in family was not a big surprise

Q: How did you feel when your fifth child was a boy? Were you disappointed that it wasn't a girl?

A: With all the modern technology these days we had been told in advance it was going to be a boy. Plus, the doctors had told us before that when you have two or three children of one sex without having one of the other sex, the odds are that you have set a trend and the next child will likely be of the same sex.

Since we had four boys without a girl, we were pretty well assured the fifth would be a boy also. We are excited with Taylor, and things have been going well, and as soon as he gets to sleeping more, things will be better.

Maybe deep down inside we were hoping we could beat the odds and have a girl, but we are just as excited with Taylor.
