John
14:1-31
1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God; trust also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it
were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a
place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I
will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be
where I am.
4 You know the way to the place where I am
going."
5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know
where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the
truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 If you really knew me, you would know my
Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen
him."
8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father
and that will be enough for us."
9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me,
Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone
who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us
the Father'?
10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father,
and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just
my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his
work.
11 Believe me when I say that I am in the
Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the
evidence of the miracles themselves.
12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith
in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater
things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name,
so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and
I will do it.
15 "If you love me, you will obey what I
command.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give
you another Counselor to be with you forever--
17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept
him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him,
for he lives with you and will be in you.
18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come
to you.
19 Before long, the world will not see me
anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
20 On that day you will realize that I am in my
Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he
is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my
Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said,
"But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not
to the world?"
23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he
will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come
to him and make our home with him.
24 He who does not love me will not obey my
teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the
Father who sent me.
25 "All this I have spoken while still
with you.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the
Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will
remind you of everything I have said to you.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts
be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 "You heard me say, 'I am going away and
I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that
I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
29 I have told you now before it happens, so
that when it does happen you will believe.
30 I will not speak with you much longer, for
the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,
31 but the world must learn that I love the
Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
"Come now; let us leave.

Psalms 23:1-6
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in
want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he
leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of
righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your
rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence
of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all
the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

John 15:1-27
1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is
the gardener.
2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no
fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that
it will be even more fruitful.
3 You are already clean because of the word I
have spoken to you.
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No
branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.
Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If
a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart
from me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a
branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked
up, thrown into the fire and burned.
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in
you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear
much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I
loved you. Now remain in my love.
10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in
my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in
his love.
11 I have told you this so that my joy may be
in you and that your joy may be complete.
12 My command is this: Love each other as I
have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, that he
lay down his life for his friends.
14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
15 I no longer call you servants, because a
servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have
called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father
I have made known to you.
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and
appointed you to go and bear fruit-- fruit that will last. Then
the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
17 This is my command: Love each other.
18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind
that it hated me first.
19 If you belonged to the world, it would love
you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I
have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates
you.
20 Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No
servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they
will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will
obey yours also.
21 They will treat you this way because of my
name, for they do not know the One who sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they
would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for
their sin.
23 He who hates me hates my Father as well.
24 If I had not done among them what no one
else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen
these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.
25 But this is to fulfill what is written in
their Law: 'They hated me without reason.'
26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will
send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out
from the Father, he will testify about me.
27 And you also must testify, for you have been
with me from the beginning.

Psalms 51:1-19
1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your
unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my
transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from
my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is
always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done
what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you
speak and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the
time my mother conceived me.
6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts;
you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones
you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all
my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew
a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence or take
your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and
grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will turn back to you.
14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who
saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will
declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would
bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a
broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper;
build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices,
whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered
on your altar.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of
angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a
clanging cymbal.
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom
all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can
move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 If I give all I possess to the poor and
surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain
nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not
envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is
not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices
with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are
prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will
be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect
disappears.
11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I
thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a
man, I put childish ways behind me.
12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a
mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then
I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and
love. But the greatest of these is love.

Matthew 6:19-34
19 "Do not store up for yourselves
treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where
thieves break in and steal.
20 But store up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do
not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart
will be also.
22 "The eye is the lamp of the body. If
your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body
will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is
darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 "No one can serve two masters. Either
he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to
the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and
Money.
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry
about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body,
what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the
body more important than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not
sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father
feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour
to his life?
28 "And why do you worry about clothes?
See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all
his splendor was dressed like one of these.
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the
field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire,
will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we
eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 For the pagans run after all these things,
and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for
tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of
its own.

Romans 8:31-39
31 What, then, shall we say in response to
this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave
him up for us all-- how will he not also, along with him,
graciously give us all things?
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom
God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who
died-- more than that, who was raised to life-- is at the right
hand of God and is also interceding for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or
nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written: "For your sake we
face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be
slaughtered."
37 No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor
life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the
future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else
in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God

4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for
you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.

5 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all
the peoples praise you.
6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and
God, our God, will bless us.
7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the
earth will fear him.

Psalms 91:1-16
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge
and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's
snare and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers, and
under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be
your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor
the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the
darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten
thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes and see
the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling--
even the LORD, who is my refuge--
10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster
will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning
you to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands, so
that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 "Because he loves me," says the
LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he
acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him and show
him my salvation."

Hebrews 11:1-40
1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.
2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
3 By faith we understand that the universe was
formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of
what was visible.
4 By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice
than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when
God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks,
even though he is dead.
5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so
that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because
God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended
as one who pleased God.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please
God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not
yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his
faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness
that comes by faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a
place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went,
even though he did not know where he was going.
9 By faith he made his home in the promised
land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as
did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.
10 For he was looking forward to the city with
foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
11 By faith Abraham, even though he was past
age-- and Sarah herself was barren-- was enabled to become a
father because he considered him faithful who had made the
promise.
12 And so from this one man, and he as good as
dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as
countless as the sand on the seashore.
13 All these people were still living by faith
when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they
only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they
admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.
14 People who say such things show that they
are looking for a country of their own.
15 If they had been thinking of the country
they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.
16 Instead, they were longing for a better
country-- a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be
called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him,
offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises
was about to sacrifice his one and only son,
18 even though God had said to him, "It is
through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned."
19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the
dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from
death.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in
regard to their future.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed
each of Joseph's sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of
his staff.
22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near,
spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave
instructions about his bones.
23 By faith Moses' parents hid him for three
months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary
child, and they were not afraid of the king's edict.
24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up,
refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter.
25 He chose to be mistreated along with the
people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a
short time.
26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ
as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was
looking ahead to his reward.
27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the
king's anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.
28 By faith he kept the Passover and the
sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would
not touch the firstborn of Israel.
29 By faith the people passed through the Red
Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they
were drowned.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after
the people had marched around them for seven days.
31 By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she
welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were
disobedient.
32 And what more shall I say? I do not have
time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel
and the prophets,
33 who through faith conquered kingdoms,
administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the
mouths of lions,
34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped
the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and
who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.
35 Women received back their dead, raised to
life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so
that they might gain a better resurrection.
36 Some faced jeers and flogging, while still
others were chained and put in prison.
37 They were stoned; they were sawed in two;
they were put to death by the sword. They went about in
sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated--
38 the world was not worthy of them. They
wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the
ground.
39 These were all commended for their faith,
yet none of them received what had been promised.
40 God had planned something better for us so
that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Psalms 139:1-24
1 O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you
perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it
completely, O LORD.
5 You hem me in-- behind and before; you have
laid your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too
lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I
flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if
I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I
settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me, your
right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will
hide me and the light become night around me,"
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to
you.
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me
together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and
wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full
well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was
made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths
of the earth,
16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days
ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came
to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber
the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.
19 If only you would slay the wicked, O God!
Away from me, you bloodthirsty men!
20 They speak of you with evil intent; your
adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD,
and abhor those who rise up against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them; I count
them my enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me
and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and
lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 27:1-14
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom
shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom
shall I be afraid?
2 When evil men advance against me to devour my
flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble
and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not
fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be
confident.
4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I
seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of
my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in
his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me
safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his
tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
6 Then my head will be exalted above the
enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with
shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be
merciful to me and answer me.
8 My heart says of you, "Seek his
face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.
9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn
your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not
reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior.
10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the
LORD will receive me.
11 Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a
straight path because of my oppressors.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my
foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out
violence.
13 I am still confident of this: I will see the
goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart
and wait for the LORD.

Psalms 121:1-8
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does
my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of
heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip-- he who
watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will
neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your
shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the
moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he
will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and
going both now and forevermore.

Romans 1:1-30
1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be
an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God--
2 the gospel he promised beforehand through his
prophets in the Holy Scriptures
3 regarding his Son, who as to his human nature
was a descendant of David,
4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was
declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from
the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
5 Through him and for his name's sake, we
received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the
Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.
6 And you also are among those who are called
to belong to Jesus Christ.
7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and
called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father
and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ
for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the
world.
9 God, whom I serve with my whole heart in
preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I
remember you
10 in my prayers at all times; and I pray that
now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to
you.
11 I long to see you so that I may impart to
you some spiritual gift to make you strong--
12 that is, that you and I may be mutually
encouraged by each other's faith.
13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers,
that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented
from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest
among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
14 I am obligated both to Greeks and
non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.
15 That is why I am so eager to preach the
gospel also to you who are at Rome.
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it
is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes:
first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God
is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,
just as it is written: "The righteous will live by
faith."
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from
heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who
suppress the truth by their wickedness,
19 since what may be known about God is plain
to them, because God has made it plain to them.
20 For since the creation of the world God's
invisible qualities-- his eternal power and divine nature-- have
been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so
that men are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither
glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking
became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Although they claimed to be wise, they
became fools
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God
for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and
reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful
desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of
their bodies with one another.
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie,
and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--
who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to
shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for
unnatural ones.
27 In the same way the men also abandoned
natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one
another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received
in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28 Furthermore, since they did not think it
worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a
depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
29 They have become filled with every kind of
wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy,
murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant
and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their
parents;

Colossians 3:12-17
12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and
dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience.
13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever
grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord
forgave you.
14 And over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be
thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly
as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you
sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your
hearts to God.
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or
deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to
God the Father through him.

2 Corinthians 5:15-20
15 And he died for all, that those who live
should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for
them and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a
worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this
way, we do so no longer.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a
new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to
himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of
reconciliation:
19 that God was reconciling the world to
himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he
has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as
though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on
Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Psalms 70:1-5
1 Hasten, O God, to save me; O LORD, come
quickly to help me.
2 May those who seek my life be put to shame
and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in
disgrace.
3 May those who say to me, "Aha!
Aha!" turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad
in you; may those who love your salvation always say, "Let
God be exalted!"
5 Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me,
O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay.
