THE NAMES OF G-D


There are many Names of G-d. These are more than just "Titles", but are Names by which He is Called. The Bible renders many of His Names "God" in English, but there are many times completely different Hebrew words used as we can see now.


EL

Rendered "G-d" Meaning The Strong One. Genesis 17:1, 21:33, Joshua 3:10, Deuteronomy 7:9

EL-AH

Rendered "G-d" [1] Meaning The Mighty One. Occurs over 50 times, most frequently in the Book of Job. Job 3:4,23, 19:4, 37:15,22, 39:17, 40:2. Nehemiah 9:17.

EL-HIIM

Rendered "G-d" Meaning The Almighty. Used about 2,500 times. This is the plural form which gives early statement of the Tri-Une G-dhead (The Trinity).

Y""H (The Tetragrammaton)

Rendered "G-D" Meaning "I AM THAT I AM" The Hebrew verb "To Be" Doubled Denoting Eternal Existence. Also Called "The Tetragrammaton". Occurs about 6,000 times. Used together with EL-HIIM in Genesis 2:4.

This word parallels L-RD or "KURI-S" used in the Greek Septuagint (LXX) and also in the New Testament with specific reference to Yeshua HaMoshiach (Jesus the Christ) as THE VERY WORD (HO LOGOS) of The Father Which Was "Made flesh and Dwelt Among us".

AD-N

Rendered "L-rd", "Master", Possessor or Proprietor. Occurs about 30 times. Exodus 23:17.

AD-NAI

Rendered "L-rd" The plural form of AD-N. Used as "L-rd" or "Master" only in Reference to Divine Title. Genesis 15:2. Used about 290 times. Plurality once more indicative of the Tri-Une G-dhead.
