THE LAWS OF NOAH

The Laws Commanded in Acts 21:25 are based on Genesis 9:1-17

Genesis 9:1-17 gives the foundation for what the rabbis called the Seven Laws of Noah, in Orthodox Judaism called the Noachide Laws. Laws given by G-d to Adam are also included. These Laws are given to the whole human race.

Neither the Assemblies of Yeshua or Orthodox Judaism have ever believed the Gentiles are under all the Laws given by G-d to Moses and the Jewish people.

The Seven Laws of the Children of Noah

Here is the rabbinic interpretation of these laws.

"The children of Noah comprise the seventy original nations of the world and their branches. They are commanded concerning the Seven Laws of the Children of Noah or the Seven Noachide Laws. These Seven Universal Laws pertain to idolatry, blasphemy, murder, theft, sexual relations, eating the limb of a living animal (with the blood), and establishing courts of law." The Path of the Righteous Gentile, Clorfene and Rogalsky, Targum Press, 1987, p. 40. This is an Ultra-Orthodox Jewish-Approved publication.

JEWISH LAW BECOMES UNITED STATES LAW?

On March 26, 1991 then United States President George H. W. Bush (the elder Bush) had signed into United States law, a Congressional Resolution endorsing these same Laws of the Children of Noah: (House Judiciary Resolution 104, Public Law 102-14). Here is an excerpt from that Resolution:

UNITED STATES HOUSE JUDICIARY RESOLUTION 104

"Whereas Congress recognized the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our great Nation was founded; Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they were known as the Seven Noahide Laws; Whereas without these ethical values and principles the edifice of civilization stand in serious peril of returning to chaos; Whereas society is profoundly concerned with the recent weakening of these principles that has resulted in crises that beleaguer and threaten the fabric of civilized society; Whereas the justified preoccupation with these crises must not let the citizens of the Nation lose sight of their responsibility to transmit these historical ethical values from our distinguished past to the generations of the future."

Is there a hidden Purpose for these rabbinic Laws?

As most Christians are taught (at least lately) the "separation of Church and State" must not be violated. With regard to Jewish Religious Law however, this is simply another matter altogether. No "Christian law" is permitted in U.S. Law. Yet Jewish law has no problem becoming U.S. law.

By the way, the rabbinical rulings about the Seven Noachide Laws include the death penalty for idolatry. The Jewish rabbinical courts of course long ago ruled that believing in Jesus Christ was absolutely "idolatry" in its worst sense. That opinion has not changed. The Talmud says that the "only unforgiveable sin" is for a Jew to become a Christian. The punishment once again for "heretics" and "idolaters"? Death.
