PAGE 2 of MY FRIENDS PAGES
This is the story of some of my friends who are doing a great work in Arizona! Please read about and then pray for the........ Regeneration Reservation
Over the last century the North American Indian, a once proud and free-roaming people, has been truly defeated. There is one group of people attempting to change a very disturbing situation! The white man's welfare system and liquor have been far more devastating than any weapons of war. Today eighty to ninety percent of the Indian people on many reservations are slaves to alcohol. Unemployment is rampant. The suicide rate among American Indian teenagers is three times the national average. On one reservation the sniffing of dangerous substances among young people has jumped to an alarming eighty-seven percent, and the life-expectancy is only thirty-six years of age. Each day Indian lives are lost to sin and death. Isn't it about time that the white man gave them somthing better? HISTORY In 1980 a missionary who had worked among the American Indian for many years visited the Roloff Homes in Corpus Christi, Texas, and found this Christ-centered ministry to be successful in transforming alcoholics and drug addicts into responsible Christian citizens. Lester Roloff responded to this missionary's invitation to visit the reservation.
PURPOSE The various ministries of Regeneration Reservation, which are an outreach of the Regeneration Baptist Church, are dedicated to reaching the North American Indian with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to train them to minister to their own people (II Timothy 2:2). The Christian environment provides opprotunity for Indian believers of all tribes to recieve intensive discipling to prepare them to successfully take a Christian stand upon returning to their own reservation (John 15:16). Church and Girls Dormitory Baptismal Service MINISTRIES The Bible-preaching services of the Regeneration Baptist Church are well-attended by the Apache residents of the nearby community of Bylas in addition to the staff and residents at Regeneration Reservation. Children's Church and Nursery are provided for the younger ones. Regeneration Christian School provides a quality education with a Christ-centered curriculum for all grade levels. The Christian Character Program focuses on discipling young people on a twenty-four hour basis in the Christian atmosphere of the dormitory. ACTIVITIES God's Word goes forth through home Bible studies; door-to-door visitation; visits in the hospital, jail, and older-adult centers; the New Believer's Bible Class; the "Truth 'N Teens" program; Vacation Bible Schools; and Summer camps. Please pray for each of these outreaches. "Truth 'N Teens" Camp Door to Door Visitation Our Goal: Indians reaching Indians FUTURE GOALS As the Lord provides the needed finances and equipment, the present program will be expanded to reach many more Indian lives. Future goals of this ministry include a Bible Institute, a Crisis Center for the abused, a Children's Home, and a program of vocational training. Personnel, called of the Lord to this work, is one of our major prayer requests. Temporary help of individuals and church groups is also needed for various projects. All of the facilities here have been completed by Christian volunteer labor with only specialty services provided by contractors.
