In an email message to my friend Gary Crisp I made this comment about Mickey's Page:
"I would hate to think that I served a God who couldn't even preserve his own teaching!"
My Friend Gary Replied.....
This is one of those things I had to contend with early
on in my relationship with the Lord. I decided I would just
simply believe He was BIG enough to "preserve His Word". It made
the following years and situations so much easier to bear. I
especially liked what Mickey said about how the men who
translated the KJV were Godly, righteous men, chosen by God --
and I believe it, for this was a serious undertaking they were
about to enter. Even now I can see how God directed each one of
those men as they looked at and thought on each word, phrase and
paragraph...and as each were "inspired" (and I mean inspired by
the Holy Spirit) they clearly and easily were led to place the
proper words, punctuation, and even the proper verses where God
wanted them.
No one can tell me that God did not look nearly two
thousand years ahead, and direct those holy "penmen" (as Matthew
Henry calls them) to place this verse where they did -- "I am
crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but
Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave
himself for me." This verse, Galatians 2:20, is called the
"Power Verse". You've probably heard it called the "220 Power
Verse", relating it to our system of electrical current here in
America. And is it a "coincidence" that John 3:16 and 1st John
3:16 are so closely connected? And John 6:66 is a sign of
apostacy or "going back" or "turning away" from the Lord. I am
not one of those crazy people who places great emphasis on
numbers, but so many verses or chapters or books are so easy to
remember, because of their "coincidental connections". And look
at the "Romans Road" -- Rom. 3:23 & Rom. 6:23. So many verses
and chapters and books...so easy to remember. God didn't just
choose those men, then let them loose on their own. I believe He
very carefully guided each one in all they did. Every "jot" and
"tittle", as it were.
Here's what Matthew Henry has to say about 2nd Peter 1:16-21 --
"The truth and reality of the Gospel also are foretold by
the prophets and penmen of the Old Testament, who spake and
wrote under influence, and according to the direction of the
Spirit of God. How firm and sure should our faith be, who have
such a firm and sure word to rest upon! When the light of the
Scripture is darted into the blind mind and dark understanding,
by the Holy Spirit of God, it is like the day-break that
advances, and diffuses itself through the whole soul, till it
makes perfect day. As the Scripture is the revelation of the
mind and will of God, every man ought to search it, to
understand the sense and meaning. The Christian knows that book
to be the Word of God, in which he tastes a sweetness, and feels
a power, and sees a glory, truly divine."
Thank You my friend and brother for allowing me to print this
here for the world to see. It struck such a truth with me
that I wanted to share it with others!
