Asbury Lincoln BARBUR was elected City Auditor in the early 1900's. Held that office for ten years. In 1917 was elected City Commissionor of Portland. Was resposible for the city's first road paving plant. He was said to be a man among men, proven to be true to every obligation. His birthdays were city wide celebrations. He was nicknamed "OLD MAN PORTLAND". To which a stretch of road was named for him "BARBUR BLVD". He died in 1941. His second wife Catherine died in 1938.
