ABOUT 2000 YEARS AGO PEOPLE NAMED CELTS LIVED IN SCOTTLAND, IRELAND, AND WALES. THEIR NEW YEAR BEGAN ON NOV. 1st.
SO OCTOBER 31st WAS NEW YEARS EVE THE CELTS BELIEVED
THAT GHOSTS AND GOBBLINS AND WHITCHES CAME UP TO THE EARTH
ON OCTOBER 31st. THESE SPIRITS TERRIFIED THE CELTS SO THE PEOPLE
WOULD DRESS UP SO THE SPIRITS WOULDN'T RECONIZE THEM.
WHEN THE ROMANS CONCUERED THE CELTS THE TRADITIONS OF THE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE WERE COMBINED.TO THE ROMANS, NOV. 1st WAS AN IMPORTANT HOLIDAY CALLED "ALL HALLOWS" .EVENTUALLY OCTOBER 31st
THE DAY BEFORE ALL HALLOWS, BECAME KNOWN AS ALL HALLOWS E'EN
E'EN MEANS EVENING. AND NOW WE CELEBRATE IT AS HALLOWEEN.
