A fragile flame awakened
In my heart,
Because of you
A flame that once was smothered
Burns again,
In changing hues
The flame inside is burning
Growing stronger
With each passing day
In my heart I feel the yearning
For your love
When you're away

In the silence of the night
You took your love
Away from me
The flame that once burned brightly
Died for a love
That was set free
The flame shall never burn again
Its' embers have grown
Much too cold
But the memories of you, my friend
Will stay with me
As I grow old.

In the long and lonely nights
With memories of you
To keep me warm
I'll reach again those soaring heights
I reached with you
When love was born
Now all the bridges that I left uncrossed
For someone else
Shall burn
And all the chances I have lost
Are lessons yet
To learn!

"The Dream"

I had a dream today, in a wakeful state,
And I could not ascertain the look on your face...
A crescent moon, shown its' light over the land,
As we walked by the sea, you and I, hand in hand.

The brazen way you looked in my eyes
Quickened my pulse, caused my adrenaline to rise...
A suggestive thought had entered our minds
And we had gone beyond the limits of time!

The sky became hazey, I was seized with a fear
We had unlocked the door, the specter was near,
You relaxed the grasp you had held on my hand
And I stumbled and fell and was lost to the land.

I cried out as the darkness engulfed my soul,
And I lunged at a shadow as I fell in a hole,
I clawed at the sand as it poured in on my head
I begged you to help me, not to leave me for dead...

I heard the whine of a gull and the crash of a wave,
As the water seeped slowly into my sandy grave
My body grew cold, I no longer felt pain
Death tried to still me, but I fought to maintain...

I sensed your presence as you came to my aid
I had known you would find me and I would be saved
You embraced me in your love and we became one
And welcomed together the warmth of a new days sun.
