    MY LAMB FAMILY

This is the background information about my Lamb line. My great-grandfather was Charles Stevenson Lamb (1866-1941), son of Daniel L. Lamb, Farmer of Turnersville, N.J. (1835-1909) and the former Rachel Chew (1840-1925) of Mantua Township, N.J.

Daniel L. Lamb, born in N.J. was a son of John W. Lamb, farmer, of Barnsboro, N.J., who was born in England about 1812, and of Mary Ann Matlack, born in N.J. about 1813. John's parents were an earlier Daniel and Catherine Lamb, who emigrated from England with John to N.J. about 1820. Daniel Lamb the immigrant operated a store and Grist-mill in Deptford Township. A village housing his workers was originally named Lambtown. Soon re-named Almonesson Mills after the Mill's Lake, Lambtown got its present name, Almonessoon, N.J. in 1872.
