This is an old handwritten letter I found in an old book. The letter was written from Anna in Washington, D.C. I'd like to find a good home for this beautifully handwritten letter. Do these people belong to you?
May 10/92 (assume 1892)
Dear Kate:
I want to send you a few lines on business. I have broken up room keeping and have made up my mind to enter a hospital and study to be a regular trained nurse. It will take me about a year and they are in great demand and readily get from 15 to $20.00 a week. I feel that it will pay me in the end better than sewing or a government position. I have a bureau and glass, one that belonged to Ma, 2 walnut chairs and a rocker and hair mattress. And two pillows. The latter I do not care to sell, but the other things I would dispose of at a low figure. And on time. Now what I want to ask is do you want to buy anything of the kind. or if not, would such things be of any use to you. I would be pleased if you would write and let me know, the honest truth. Because if they would not I can dispose of them here.
I have a position at the National Homeopathic Hospital and like it very much. It is at the cor of 2nd and N STs, N.W. You can send a letter to that address.
Ellen was in W. last week and she and the little girl are well. Have you any boarders engaged for the summer? Bernie (or Bennie) has gotten a situation under Dr. Godding at St. Elisabeth's.
Give my love to Beck and sometime when I am not in quite as much haste as at present I will write you a longer letter.
With kind remembrance to the boys, I am yours with love,
Anna
