My Testimony

I will begin by saying, I have always known Jesus Christ as my personal savior. He has always been with me and guided me all through my life. I believe this was due to having parents who raised me to pray every night for Jesus to come into my heart and forgive me of my sins. We sang the song "Come into my Heart, Lord Jesus" and "Thank you Lord for Saving my Soul" every night. I never had any question of whether I was saved or not.

Train a child in the way he should go,and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

I have been tested many times during my life of how steadfast my relationship is with Him. Many times the devil has tried to rid me of the JOY of my salvation. Admittedly, he has at different times in my life, until finally the Holy Spirit reveals to me that I let the devil have the victory.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10

After giving birth to my third child and finding out that she was born with a genetic birth defect, I was told over and over in mind, that it was my fault. I started living a defeated life filled with guilt and depression. When she turned 4 months old, I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism(see my story and links below). I started having migraines, symptoms of being blind and paralyzed but no headaches. I was getting doctor care but no relief from the depression. I read the Word, I read it out loud, I listened to tapes of the Word. I even had my husband read it to me. My mother-in-law said "Larinda, you may not be letting the devil take your salvation but you sure are letting him rob you of your joy!". Well, that got me mad at the ole devil. I turned on Praise and Worship tapes. I sang my heart out to God and began being really busier than ever doing the work of the Lord. My music ministry really took off to where I was doing tv telethons and being invited to many churches to sing and my husband to preach(he is a lay minister).

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine... Proverbs 17:22

Praise the Lord, I was able to turn my life back around to being victorious once again. I get my valleys but then I am lifted back up on the mountain top. Jesus loves you so much and He desires for us to put Him first in our lives.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.Matt. 6:33

I am not perfect and I still have to be reminded on a daily basis of what the Word says.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

I want to be as Paul says in Phillipians 3:7-14

7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.

8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ -- the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
