Tennessee Jonathan and his wife Delilia Overfelt born 1827 died 19 February 1917, moved from Washington Co. Tennessee to Macon Co. Tennessee around 1848-49. Their first child was born in Monroe Co. Ky. in 1848, and from 1848 to 1868 they had a total of 11 children. Both Jonathan and Delilia Overfelt are buried in Archer Family Cemetery in Lafayette, Macon County, Tennessee. Archer born 1866 THE ARCHER FAMILY CEMETERY GRAVE SITE OF JONATHAN M. ARCHER AND DELILIA OVERFELT, AND SEVEN OTHERS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME IN MACON CO. TENNESSEE John D. Archer born June 1852 is believed buried in the Archer Cemetery, but this can not be proven at this time. The site of the ARCHER FAMILY CEMETERY, is 1200 feet from the Kentucky state line. It is in the middle of a tobacco patch with 3 trees around it. It is about 200 feet from where their old log cabin once stood. Rumor has it that he was killed by lightening as he was walking along the road about 2 or 3 miles from his home. The grave stone is broken in half but Truman could still make out the name and dates. A man who owned the farm years ago, remembers 8 graves being in that spot. Research and pictures were submitted by Shirley Knowles and Truman U. Truman sprayed the weeds in September to kill them and in October he went in to rake the dead weeds and place grade stakes at the head and foot of each of the 9 graves.
