Week One
Saturday, June 20, 1998
After I arrived home, I slept most of the day, waking only to eat. So it wasn't until about 4pm that I actually awoke to notice that I wasn't in the same place I was last time I was fully awake (about 7 hours earlier.) Too bad I can't focus better, so I can see my surroundings, but I looked around as best I could.
Daddy took care of me most of the day, except feedings, since he isn't properly equipped. Mommy still needs her rest, especially since I required feeding every 2 hours that night.

Daddy left us alone for a little while that morning to go to church. He came back with another pretty flower, donated by the proud grandfather in my honor. A tall pink rose....wow! Lots of people asked about me, I was told.
I met Pat, another honorary grandmother. She lives near Philly now, but comes up to visit 2 times a month.

I took my first road trip today, travelling up to Harrisburg to visit "Grandma" Vivian, who used to be mommy and daddy's neighbor; as well as "Aunt" Willette, and "cousins" Brandon, almost 5, and Damian, 6 months. As usual, I slept, allowing mommy and daddy to visit with their friends.

I had my very first appointment at the pediatrician today. I gained back the weight I lost after birth, plus two additional ounces. The doctor was very impressed at how well I eat.
Later I took mommy to her follow-up appointment. They say she is healing well, too. (She noted having lost 19 pounds in the eight days since having me! Guess I am big!)

Daddy went back to work today after nearly a whole week off with us. Mommy was nervous, but I don't understand why. She was alone with me in the hospital. But I guess to her it just wasn't the same. I was patient with her, and she did fine.
Miscellaneous
I got visits this week from neighbors, all bearing gifts. I don't think mommy can even keep up with who, when, and what! A bunch of pretty clothes, some for now, some for later. And the first monetary gift came from daddy's grandma. Soon I'll have my own savings account.
Bob Sheetz and his mother cleaned out the nearby Carters' outlet. Not only did they bring me 8 new outfits, but even had the one picked out that I was to wear to church that week!
