(If possible, please view this page with an 800X600 display. Thanks) The Marvelous Month of May!! May is Apple Blossom Time in Wyoming!! The Lilacs smell so heavenly!! Our tulips are so beautiful on this bright crisp clear May day!! We made two trellis' with some branches and tied them with twine. We planted Morning Glory seed at the base of each trellis and hope to have a beautiful vine by summer's end. Planted down below the trellis is a Wild Daisy, Bachelor Buttons and Hollyhocks which all came back on their own. There is an identical setting like this one on the other side of this south wall. In between I have planted four tomato plants. My neighbor to the south gave me this wonderful Bleeding Heart plant. She makes it really hard for me because she won't let me tell her 'Thank you'. She says that it is bad luck and the plant will die if you thank the person that gives you the plant. The hardest part is that she is always giving me plants. I just tell her that she is a wonderful neighbor!! I use this small raised bed to experiment with different plants and see how they like Wyoming weather. These particular plants apparently like it alot!! Some of the plants here are Rose Echinacea, Lamb's Ear and Canterbury Bells. Our corner bed is growing nicely. Yellow Yarrow and Silver Mound do very well in the full sun area. The second picture is an update taken in July. The yellow yarrow and white daisies make a nice combination. I am so mad at the squirrels right now!! My neighbor has a robin's nest in a tree right next to their patio. They spend many enjoyable hours every year watching the robins raise their babies. This year tragedy struck!! A squirrel climbed into the nest and knocked the two babies down to the ground. Thankfully they were not hurt and my neighbors watched out for cats throughout that day. The next morning my neighbor was so sad because she couldn't find them but when I went to sit on my swing to have my morning coffee, lo and behold there was one baby robin sitting on my chain link fence and another one on a lower limb of the ash tree above me. The baby on the fence seemed to have no fear so I took advantage of the situation and snapped this picture. I am going to continue keeping an eye out for cats and hope they can hang on until they can learn to fly. So cute!! Last May Steffy and Emily went for a visit to Texas and brought back a bag full of iris' from my mom's yard. I was so excited and curious to see if they would make it through Wyoming's cold winters. Well, guess what!! Here is our first Texas Bloomin' Iris. Iris begin to bloom in late May and will continue (according to variety) through June.
