This Childrens Bible Story is taken from the Book of Genesis-Chapter 7 Verses 1-24.

Noah obeyed God and was righteous before him.

The ark that God told Noah to make was finished. Although building the large ark was hard, the next step was even harder.

God told Noah to gather animals to put in the ark. He was to gather them 2 by 2, a father and a mother of every kind of animal in the land. He also had to gather enough food and water for all of the animals and his family too. WOW! Think of the enormous task this must have been.

Well now as we see in Verse 5 Noah did exactly what God had commanded him to do. He took into the ark 2 of every animal-2 lions, 2-tigers, 2 elephants, 2-mice and also birds, 2-robins, 2-sparrows, 2-peacocks, 2-doves. From the smallest to the largest, there was 2 of every kind of animal, bird, or insect took into the ark.

Then God told Noah and his family, his wife, his sons, and his sons wives to also go into the ark. Verse 7. Finally Noah his family and all the animals were safe on the ark. Then the Bible states in Verse 16

"GOD SHUT THE DOOR"

For seven long days nothing happened and then it began.

RAIN!!!!

It started out as a small shower then it became harder, Harder and HARDER until the boat started to groan and creak and finally began to float.

The ark floated for several days and the rain just kept coming down day and night.

The water kept getting higher and higher until even the highest hills were covered with water. Verse 19-20.

There was nothing left to see but sky and water. It rained like this for forty days and forty nights. Think of what would happen if it rained now for forty days and forty nights. I'm sure there would be very bad floods. But Noah and his family and all the animals was safe inside the boat and every day he prayed and thanked God for keeping them safe.

AND THEN THE RAIN STOPPED!!!

Noah and his family had no idea what was going to happen now, but they were not afraid, because they had trusted God and obeyed what he had told them to do. They knew God would keep them safe.

Do you always obey God and your parents like Noah did even though you may not know why they are asking you to do so? What do you think would have happened to Noah and the animals if he did not obey? We must always obey our parents as they are like our heavenly father who just wants to protect us from harm.

THE STORY OF JONAH

A Whale of a Tale

This Childrens Bible Story is taken from the Book of Jonah

Jonah was a man of faith, a man who loved God and his people, yet Jonah got himself into a mess of trouble.

The Word of God came to Jonah in a dream telling him to leave Israel and go to the great city of Ninavah and preach agains't it because of its wickedness. He was supposed to tell them the city would be destroyed forty days after he arrived.

Did Jonah answer Gods call?

NO!!!

Jonah tried to:

FLEE

in the opposite direction.

Our Whale of a Tale continues with Jonah at sea on a merchant ship heading for Tarshish. The ship is caught in a huge storm and is coming apart at the seams.

The men finally get Jonah to confess that he was running away from the Lord. After trying just about everything you could with a boat in a terrible storm, the crew asked God to forgive them for what they were to do and threw Jonah overboard. Thay felt God caused the storm because Jonah disobeyed him.

IMMEDIATELY THE STORM STOPS!

As for Jonah at this point, he was swallowed up by a great fish that some say was a whale.

Well old Jonah was just about into a panic by this time and started praying to the Lord and promising him he would do his will.God hears Jonah's prayers, and commands the fish to give Jonah up, and it vomits Jonah onto dry land.

I guess even though Jonah had lots of good points that whale couldn't stand him for long.

So, Jonah has learned his lesson and goes to Ninevah and tells them the word of God "Fourty more days and Ninevah will be destroyed".

Well the people of Ninevah repented and God had compassion and did not destroy the city.

What a wonderful world this would be if everyone who preached hate and murder were to repent, change there minds, lay down there weapons of destruction and prey to God for forgiveness. What a cause for celebration this would be.

Well strange as it may seem Jonah was not happy with this. WHY? Because Jonah hated evil more then he loved God and that is the root of his problem.

This is why Jonah fled from God, he was afraid that Ninaveh would repent and that God would save the city.

Does this seem incredible?

WELL IT IS!

Look at Jonah and his attitude and then consider your own attitude.

Do you find it hard to forgive someone for what they have done?

Jonah is a model of the wrong kind of faith, for we to, like Jonah find it hard to forgive, and often flee from God and do not do the things he asks.

ARE YOU LIKE JONAH?

The Story of David and Goliath

Taken from 1 Samuel 17

The Philistines had gathered there army together for war

Saul gathered the army of Israel together.

The Philistine army was camped on one hill.

Israel's army was on another hill.

There was a valley between them.

A mighty hero named Goliath came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span which made him more then nine feet tall. He had on a brass helmet and a coat of bronze armor. This weighed five thousand shekels which translates into 125 pounds. The iron point of his spear weighed 15 pounds.

WOW!!!!!!!!!

CAN YOU IMAGINE HAVING TO FIGHT THIS GUY?

He challenged the soldiers of Israel to send one man out to fight him. If he killed Goliath the Philistines would become Israel's slaves, but if Goliath killed the Israeli soldier they would become slaves of the Philistines. Saul and his whole army heard what Goliath said and they were terrified. How could one man kill a giant like Goliath?

ALAS

What were they to do?

HERE I MUST NOTE THAT SAUL HIMSELF WAS A TALL MAN AND WOULD HAVE BEEN A EQUAL MATCH FOR GOLIATH, BUT THE HOLY SPIRIT HAD LEFT SAUL AND WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT SAUL HAD NO COURAGE!

IF WE DO NOT HAVE JESUS IN US TODAY IN THE FORM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WE WILL HAVE NO COURAGE OR STRENGTH TO FACE THE PROBLEMS OF THE WORLD TODAY.

Now we must say a little something about David. He was the son of Jesse. Jesse already had three other sons who had followed Saul as Israeli soldiers. But David went back and fourth from Sauls camp to Bethleham where he took care of his fathers sheep.

HERE WE MUST NOTE THAT DAVID WAS A GOOD SHEPHERD. ALTHOUGH HE LEFT THE FLOCK TO GO TO SAULS CAMP HE STILL WENT BACK TO CARE FOR THE FLOCK.

Each morning and evening Goliath would come forward and challange the Israeli soldiers to fight him. He done this for fourty days. Now about this time Jesse had asked his son David to get grain and bread and take it to his brothers. Also to get cheese and take it to Saul. He was very worried about his sons and wanted David to find out how they were doing.

David loaded up the food and provisions and left early in the morning and reached the camp just as they were going into battle. The time had come, the armys were facing each other.

David ran to the battle lines to greet his brothers. Once again Goliath stepped forward and dared someone to fight him and this time David heard him. The Israeli army ran away in fear from Goliath

David spoke to the men standing near him and asked "What will be done for the man that kills this Philistine giant? They told him the king would make him very wealthy and give him his daughter to be his wife and that no one in his family would have to pay taxes in Israel. David was outraged because this giant was bringing shame to Israel.

HERE I WANT TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT EVEN THOUGH DAVID HEARD OF SAULS GENEROUS REWARD HE WAS ONLY INTERESTED IN GODS HONOR. HE HAD HERE A OPPORTUNITY TO GLORIFY HIMSELF BUT CHOSE TO GLORIFY GOD INSTEAD

David's oldest brother, Eliab became angry with him and asked him why he had come down there. He should have stayed home and tended his sheep. He said David had come down there just to watch the battle, not to fight.

HERE WE FIND DAVID BEING FALSELY ACCUSED BY HIS BROTHER. HE THOUGHT DAVID WAS PROVOKING SOMEONE ELSE INTO FIGHTING GOLIATH JUST SO HE COULD SEE A BATTLE. THERE AGAIN ELIAB WAS NOT PLEASED BECAUSE HE WAS THE LOGICAL CHOICE TO BE ANNOINTED KING BUT WAS NOT. DAVID WAS HURT BUT NOT HINDERED BY THE MISUNDERSTANDING.

Saul heard of this and sent for David. David told Saul that he would go out and fight Goliath, but Saul was afraid he was to young to fight a seasoned veteran like the mighty Goliath.

But David told Saul not to fear for he had been protecting his fathers sheep from lions and bears. He told Saul that he had killed a lion and a bear and would do the same thing to this unsaved Philistine Goliath who had dared the armies of the living God to fight him. David said the Lord had saved him from the lion and the bear and would surely save him from Goliath to.

Saul dressed David up in his own suit of armor, but David was not used to it and took it off. Then David took his wooden staff, went down to a stream and chose five small stones. He put them in his pocket took his sling in his hand and approched Goliath. Goliath looked David over and hated him. He called down curses upon David in the name of his God. David replied right back that he was coming against him in the name of the Lord who rules over all. It is he you fight against. This battle belongs to the Lord.

David then ran quickly toward Goliath reached into his bag and took out a stone, put it in his sling and slung it at Goliath. The stone hit him in the head and he fell to the ground on his face. David ran over took Goliath's sword and killed him. The Philistines seeing there hero was dead turned and ran

What lesson do we learn from the story of David and Goliath? Remember the Philistines represent the enemies of God in our lives, anything that hinders the progress of God's people. Goliath stands for specific things that hinder us and keep us from becoming God,s people. We all have giants in our lives, for instance you might have disagreements with your mother or father. This is the giant that causes you to fail, to repeat your sin over and over. Your relationship with your mother or father may be the giant in your life.

Goliath threw fear into the Israelites. Isn't that our condition? When we face giants in our life they seem unconquerable. We go out to meet them and we are defeated over and over until we lose the heart to fight.

Then along comes David. He had the faith of God on his side. David symbalizes a man who is in Christ, a man as God intended him to be. David knew God would protect him. God is faithful in his word.

Now we find that Goliath, who was overconfident had left his visor open Oh! Oh! That was a big mistake! The stone from David's sling was traveling at about 200 feet per second and had the force of a 45 caliber bullet. The stone struck its mark and Goliath fell

Remember, faith is aggressive and active. It means taking a step of obedience and moving in faith against the giant in our life and trusting in God to carry us through

What are the giants in your life? What things hinder you? Remember God has charted the course for victory. The victory is certain. No matter how big your giant is or how long you have been hindered by it, no matter how many rocks you have to throw victory is certain. This is a promise God has given us.

JESUS LOVES YOU
