This is our new little addition to the family. We would like you all to meet
Baxter. He is from one of Cherri Thomson's litters. He is the
most adorable little thing anyone could ever own. Guess what. This little
puppers likes to watch TV. Its the cutest thing. He will actually sit
right in front of the TV, and WATCH it!. Its the music I think.

UPDATED FEBRUARY 99

Hi everyone! Well, this is an update about ME. I'm growing up real fast and I'm still the cutest dachsie around. I'm 15 months old now and boy did I grow to be a big boy. My mama tinks maybe I'm a bit over weight, but gee I get lots and lots of exercise chasing around my little brudder. My favorite thing in the world to do these days is chase my little brudder Boo Boo all around the house as fast as I can. I also like to yelp the entire time, just so's he know's I'm behind him. His favorite thing to do is sleep right on top of me. But I don't mind, that little wipper-snapper only weighs all of 7 pounds. Catch ya all later!

FIRST REPORT IN APRIL 98

Hi, my name is Baxter and I'm a standard, smooth-haired Dachshund. I am 16 weeks old and I was born on November 14, 1997. I am the best dog anyone could ever own, cuz I'm really really cute! Don't you think so? Some of the things I really like to do are eating, playing with all my toys, taking long naps , *eating*, watching TV, chewing on my blanky and then eating some more. I come from Canada and my new mommy and daddy drove all the way up there to get me. Aint that really cool! They must love me a whole bunch to do that, don't ya think? Some day soon, my mommy and daddy are going to get me a puppers playmate, hopefully one NOT as cute as me.

Go see some super pictures of my dachsie brudder and sisser.
Also great pictures of my other buddies!

*OUR BELOVED RUSTY DOG*

ballrusty.gif
This is Rusty, he was 15 1/2 years old when he passed on in June of 1996. I had Rusty since he was 8 weeks old, when the two older boys were just little ones. He did everything we did, and went everywhere we went. He was just like one of the children around here. He went through all the moves we made, through the hard times and the great times we had. He was someone I could talk to when I was hurting....gee he was the best listener I even knew. And he could get excited about anything. He would follow me all over the place. Actually, he got most of his exercise by just following me from room to room, including the bathroom ;-)

He had back problems (and even some tennis elbow now and then) most of his last 8 years of life. Boy, to watch those wee little things in pain is just soooo hard to do. The last year or so, I carried him around with me most of the time. You see, he still had to follow me from room to room. What can a mommy do! One time we both ended up confined to bed at the same time. You see, he hurt his back, so from carrying him around, up and down the stairs all day, I hurt mine too (he was a hefty little thing). He never knew, not even at the end, that he was a dog. He always just figured he was the shortest one in the family. He was a very special part of my life and believe it or not, after he died I said I'd never have another dog. Well, how in the world can anyone live without a Dachsie in their life? We're lookin' for another one now!

~Took 3 Dachsies for a Walk~
....last night after supper. We went through our usual
routines, and headed on up the street. The sun was low in the western sky,
it was a warm, pleasant evening, with a light breeze at our backs.

As we made our way along the street, I looked off to the east,
and saw a large, brilliant rainbow arching across the
sky from one end of the lake to the other, just like a bridge.....

A few steps later, I stop short in my tracks, as the realization hits
me, I look again to the eastern sky, and there it is- .

Could it really be? Naw, no way. Then I look again
to the ends of the Rainbow, tell the pups to quiet down, and strain my ears....

Was that barking? It was so faint-- But there is Shadow, Liberty and Sadie,
all looking at the end of the rainbow just as I am, and ears perked up, and ......

I HEARD them! They were barking while playing, and the tags on collars
were jingling, and playful growls. I couldn't see them,
but I could HEAR them, ever so faintly in the eveing air. They were there,
running and jumping and playing while they wait!

We stood there listening and marveling, and then the sprinkes came, and
a shower, and the rainbow faded as did the joyful, playful barking.
It was over much too soon, but I HEARD them,
and for a brief moment could feel their presence....
