Dear Dad,
Since you left this physical world, I can't visit or
call you, can't give you a card, nor celebrate any
special days with you, but I feel sure you receive
my messages.
I am dedicating this page in memory of you -- my
father, my Dad, and my friend. You are constantly
with me -- alive in my heart and in
spirit..
~~My Dad, Philip Pope~~
Born: July 13, l913..Died:
September 28, 1993..
This picture was taken on October
20, 1979..It was taken on Donnie's and my wedding
day!
Dad loved Gladiolia's and
raised them for many years and they were georgeous!
He had every color under the sun and he used to get
mad at me for picking them..you know how kids are
with flowers. Just one of the many memories of me and Dad. Of course he didn't stay mad long..how could he, I was his doll and their only child, but I was not
spoiled, like they say only children are.
My dad was a very special
person. He never had a bad word to say about anyone
and always tried to keep the peace. Dad was the
oldest of 9 children and the only one that graduated
from High School. He quit school to go to work to
help his parents, my grandparents, raise the others,
but finally went back and graduated with honors,
which was quite an accomplishment back
then.
He met my mom, who was 10
years younger..they married on June 13, l942..If they
had both lived, they would have celebrated their 57th
wedding anniversary this past June. I came along on
May 23, l943. Dad was a very hard worker and was a
chief inspector for the American Chain and
Cable..Hazard Rope Divison for 35 years of dedicated
service..They made wire-rope cable for ships, planes
and boats..The building still stands in Wilkes-Barre
and is now known as the Murray Complex, which houses
numerous businesses.
I miss you daddy and there is
not a day that goes by that I don't think of you and
all the memories..good and bad..I will always love
you..I am and will always be "Daddy's Little Girl"..I
miss you so much. May you Rest In Peace..I
will be with you somday.
