Murphy's Law
Silky Terrier
Adopted into the Dogpak November 1998
On Friday, November 13, 1998 an Alaska member of the silkydog-L
server list sent out a message to the other members stating that she had
just been informed by someone from animal control in Kenai that a 5 year
old male Silky Terrier was at their shelter in need of a new home. She
had gone to the shelter see him and found him to be a very cute, very sweet
little guy. He had been banished to the shelter by his owners for the 'crime'
of growling at a child that pulled his hair.
Mark had been thinking about his hero Bud, more even than usual. On that
Friday afternoon, Amy did one of Bud's favorite stunts with Mark. She went
down to the edge of the lawn by the woods, about 100 feet from the house,
turned and looked at Mark with the stealth of a panther, then came at him
lickty-split with her hair flowing behind her to "get" him. For
Mark, it seemed almost as if his Bud was running right beside Amy, coaching
her attack! Mark was so over whelmed by the action he nearly cried.
Then he got the word about the male silky in need of a new home. It truly
seems this meeting was destined. By the next day, Mark had decided to adopt
this little 'outcast' and arrangements were begun to transport him from
Kenia to Valdez where Mark & the rest of the Dogpak pack would be waiting
for him.
Mark and the Dogpak drove
down to Valdez on Monday, November 16th to meet the little guys flight
from Kenai. It had been a long trip for him, but he was a little charmer
and took to his new family almost immediately!
Murphy & Ziggy
Since the little guy was 5 years old, Mark decided it wouldn't be fair
to change his name from "Murphy". But he added "Law"
as his second name, just to prove there isn't anything to the old addage!
Ziggy just thinks he is so cool! Murphy was a bit intimidated by Ziggy
at first, but plays "keep away" with a tennis ball now.
Murphy has really made a home for himself in The Dogpak Kenny Lake! He
is in very good company and seems to be thriving on living the 'good life'!
