George left Germany according to the German church records, April 4,
1853, and came to America. He was living for
a time in Edgar Co., Ill., where he signed his intention to become a
citizen of the United States, Sept
1, 1855. I have been told by some member of his family that he lived
and probably owned a farm east
of Marysville, purchased from his in-laws, John Schmid and wife. I have
not checked the records on
this matter. The records of Marshall Co, KS disclose that he and wife
purchased a number of tracts of
land three miles north of Marysville as early as Sept 15, 1864. In the
early days he and a cousin(?)
Fred Weber, freighted between St. Joseph, Mo., and Denver ,CO. At the
time of his death he owned
about 900acres of land lying along the Big Blue River. All of their
children were born there.
