Make these verses your "pre-prayer"
David asked God to search for sin and point it out, even to the level of testing his thoughts. This is exploratory surgery for sin. How are we to recognize sin unless God points it out? Then when God shows us, we can repent, be forgiven, and be ready for prayer.

1."FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER" (Eph4:32)

Is there anyone against whom you hold a grudge? Anyone you haven't forgiven? Is there a person against whom you are harboring jealousy, bitterness, or resentment? TAKE CARE OF IT!

2."SEEK FIRST GOD'S KINGDOM" (Mt6:33)

Is there anything in which you have failed to put God first? Have your decisions been made after your own will and desire rather than seeking and following God's will?

3."PREACH THE GOSPEL TO ALL CREATION" (Mk16:15)

Have you sought after those who are lost in sin? Have you been a faithful witness with your mouth and your actions?

4."LOVE ONE ANOTHER" (Jn13:35)

Are you secretly pleased over the misfortunes of another? Are you secretly annoyed over the accomplishments or advancements of another?

5."IT IS REQUIRED OF STEWARDS THAT THEY BE TRUSTWORTHY" (1Cor4:2)

Have you robbed God by withholding his due of time, talents, or money? Have you given less than a tithe of your income for God's work?

6."YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT" (1Cor6:19)

Are you in any way careless with your body? Are you guilty of intemperance in eating and/or drinking? Do you have habits which are defiling to the body?

7."DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD" (1Cor10:31)

Do you take the slightest credit for anything good about you, rather than give all glory to God? Do you talk of what you have done rather than give all glory to God?

8."LET THE THIEF NO LONGER STEAL" (Eph4:28)

Do you give your employer an honest day's work? Have you been careless in paying your debts?

9."GET RID OF ALL BITTERNESS, SLANDER, WITH ALL MALICE" (Eph4:31)

Do you have a critical attitude toward any person? Have you made unkind or cruel remarks about any person? Said things behind their back you wouldn't say to their faces?

10."DO NOT LOVE THE WORLD OR THE THINGS OF THE WORLD" (1Jn2:15)

Are you taken up with the things of life? Is your conversation or desires of your heart joy over "things" rather than the Lord and his work?

11."THERE MUST NOT BE EVEN A HINT OF IMPURITY AMONG YOU" (Eph5:3)

Do you have personal habits that are not pure? Do you allow impure thoughts to stay in your mind? Do you indulge in any unclean entertainment? Are you guilty of the lustful look?

12."DO NOT NEGLECT TO MEET TOGETHER" (Heb10:25)

Are you irregular in church attendance? Have you neglected meeting with God for prayer & fellowship? Have you neglected reading God's word?

13."OBEY YOUR LEADERS AND SUBMIT TO THEM" (Heb13:17)

Have you dishonored God by criticizing his servants? Have you failed to pray regularly for your pastors & other spiritual leaders?

14."GOD RESISTS THE PROUD" (Jas4:6)

Do you feel that you are doing quite well as a Christian? That you are not so bad? That you are good enough?
