Perhaps
someday . . .
Perhaps
someday you may feel as I have felt!
But I hope you don't bear that bitter pain
That woke me while I deeply slept,
And stopped me from my sleep again.
And
perhaps you may wake as I have woke
And listened while you falsely cried,
And faked your sleep and the words you spoke -
Then for the millionth time I died.
Perhaps
you'll cling like I have clung
To illusive dreams and fancy aims,
And love and joy and symphonic song -
All part of lifes greatest games.
And
perhaps you'll love as I have loved,
And bear the pain that it has brought -
To reach the peak and then be shoved
Into the void and be left with naught.
Then
perhaps you'll cry as I have cried,
Not with watery eyes, but weeping heart,
That believed and beat while you had lied -
'till it broke in two and then fell apart!
And
I know I'll love as you never will,
As you go your way and I go mine.
Though I'll be forgotten - you'll last until
My mind will die and then will time!
