Neon lights and modern life .....

Outlined against the black night were buildings,
With neon lights reflecting signs.
his truly was a picture of the times
- Neon lights reflecting signs -

Street lights engulfed by a damp mistiness,
And boots were heard along the walk.
A young boy walked but did not talk,
'Neath the lights engulfed by mistiness.

A neon light flashed 'Cafe',
And music flowed through the air.
The smell of coffee was everywhere;
And a neon light flashed 'Cafe'.

A red light glinted on an open door,
And the young boy stepped inside.
Smoke was rising and a trumpet cried
Behind the closing door.

Dancers moved in perpetual motion
And a trumpet froze a note.
Above the table blue smoke afloat,
'round dancers in perpetual motion.

A red cigarette end glowed - alight.
A boy gazed across the floor.
Modern life was truly a bore,
So a red cigarette end glowed alight.

Neon lights and modern life.
Youth - boys and girls.
Dancing - lighting - life awhirl.
Neon lights and modern life.
