Lacy's Labor Of Love Challenge For A Child

The challenge came to be in March of 1998 after I met a little boy online through a prayer request I received for my weekly newsletter.

After falling in love with this little boy and his mother, I built a page in his honor; hoping to bring support and many prayers to his family through his guestbook....and boy what a success that was !  Hearing his mother's excitement everyday at watching the visitors numbers climb on the page and reading the guestbook entries.  She went from many sad days to many glad days. And those of you in Cyberspace made that happen in her life.

That was all it took for me to realize how many more very sick children there were who needed to have their own page. Their own guestbook for all of us to send good cheer on a daily basis. To show their parents, they weren't alone in this great big world; and that there were literally millions of us in cyberspace to offer prayer and support to their families.

So, "Lacy's Labor of Love Challenge For A Child" was born. Many of us love making web pages, and so often these parents have not time to learn how, for they treasure every moment with their child. So I used my mailing list and my newsletters and every other newsletter I could find to get volunteers to make pages for these precious angels.

It has been terrfic! And slowly I am finding others on the internet who I can network with.

What we do in "Lacy's Challenge" is strictly a Labor of Love. There is no cost unless you need to mail photos to your angel volunteer who's making your page to scan. Please include a return envelope inside to cover the postage of mailing the photos back to you.

THE PAGE
First, I like to hear alittle about your child: the illness, age, and how far the illness has progressed. This helps me to match you and your child to the perfect angel volunteer who will be making the page.

Second, you will be contacted by the person I feel best suits your and your child's needs. You will need to share with them theme ideas for the page, music ideas, and I ask that you write a brief bio of your child; which my angel will rewrite in his/her own words, this helps my creator of the page put his/her entire heart and soul into it's content. (Of course we will honor any changes you prefer once that has been done.)

You and my volunteer angel will become very close friends....so far this has happened in every single case! A bond takes place. Three hearts meet and they are forever more bonded!

The page will not be release without your written permission to me; and your child's last name will never be used for his/her own safety.

We would very much like for you to supply the child with a PO Box address for your child's page, and if there is a trust set up, you may forward that information to me. Many people prefer to send your child cards and gifts through the US mail.

Your child's page will also become a part of "Lacy's Labor of Love Webring" Some pages in my ring are not challenge pages, but the ring was primarily made for that purpose.

There must be links on your page so that others may learn more about your child's illness or disABILITY, so if you have preferences please let your volunteer know right away.

We are thrilled to be a volunteer group who helps bring prayers and support to families in need. We will always be here for you!
