This is the old firehouse on Wards Island. There are a lot of old houses on this particular island. It was the only island anyone was allowed to build on. Building anything there has been prohibited for many years now. They are trying to keep the island beautiful. Even most upgrades to the existing homes are prohibited. There is very restrictive building rules there now. The firehouse has not been used for many years but it is left up for heritage purposes and tourism.
