Christmas - Main St. and Market
Description by: Joyce A Bell
The policeman is Wade Williamson (when he retired he was a Capt).
The building on the left, with the awning is the Corner View Barber Shop (my step father worked there). The next on left is McKeel Hardware
Store and the 3rd was Morris Ins Agency. Just beyond that was the Susan Dimmock (sp?)house and the Patrician Inn.
On the Right--the First building was the Guaranty Bank (now Wachovia), then a restaurant, then Adams Clothing store. Just after that was the Paul Funeral Home. Notice the City Bus sitting in front of Corner View -- Bill Deans, (who has been giving the drivers license test for the last 38+ years) use
to be one of the drivers for the city Bus that was owned by "Togo" Wynn. To the left of the Corner View on Market St, the first building was Service Market and the 2nd was Bowers Groc. My Mom worked there from 44/45 until 1952, so I spent a lot of time on Market Street. Would love to see some more of these!!!
