Chapter One
"Long Ago and Far Away."I saw a movie in 1992,
which starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman
as Irish immigrants who (eventually) made their way
to Oklahoma. Actually, I believe the movie was
entitled "Far and Away," but either title fits. The
movie was not very good but I sat through 2 hours of
it, anxiously awaiting the scenes of the Oklalhoma
Land Run of 1893. It finally came in the last 5 or 6
minutes of the movie and was indeed impressive. Two
of my great-grandparent families (Susanna and John
Jantzen on my father's side and Thomas and Nancy
Bland on my mother's side) made the run of 1892 to
stake out homesteads in Western Oklahoma.
THIS IS THE HENRY AND KARLINA JANTZEN FAMILY. HENRY AND KARLINA WERE MY GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENTS.
