SLOVENSKA KONJICE (Gonobitz), SLOVENIA, A small village where my grandfather was born, his name is Frank Ostruh born in 1860 to Mattias and Minka Ostruh.I believe the name is taken from the village of Ostruh in Oplotnica near Zgorn and Jurga.My grandfather was born in Gonobitz, married in Celje and immigrated to the United States in 1900 and arrived in Westmoreland County,Pa. where he was employed as a coal miner.Two sons and a daughter where born there. They moved to Marianna, Washington County,Pa. where another son was born.He and his second wife resided there until she died in 1932 and he in 1938.In my research I have come across at least 16 Ostruh's in various parts of Slovenia and am hoping they may somehow be long lost relatives of mine through my grandfather.These are the only ones with phone numbers.Who knows,there may be even more.I will continue my research in hopes of linking them to my family.
