Daughter of Frederick Edwin Hathaway Kemper and Vesta Curtis Hart, his wife.   Granddaughter of Samuel Doddridge Kemper and Elisabeth Taylor Fishback Kemper, his wife.  Gr.-granddaughter of Rev. Charles Kemper, 1777, was a private in the Artillery and in 1781 served as ensign in Capt. William Jennings' company, Col. Elias Edmond's regiment. He was a pensioner when he died at Cedar Grove in 1841, aged eighty-two.

John Hathaway, 1779, was appointed captain by the Fauquier County [VA] court and served until peace was declared.

Nicholas Hobbs, (1747-93), served as second lieutenant in Capt. Basil Dorsey's company of Maryland militia, 1776.

He applied and received a pension 1832 in Perry Co., Alabama for service as sergeant, Virginia militia. He was born 1760 in Hanover Co., Va.

[p.339] Nathaniel Barnett (1727-1820) was taken prisoner and confined in Augusta jail when the Tories, by their murderous warfare, drove most of the Whigs from upper Georgia. Later he was liberated, when the Whigs under Clark attacked and drove out the Tories. He was born in Amherst County, Va.; died at Broad River, Ga.

Joel Barnett (1762-1851) enlisted in the militia of Amherst County, Va., where he was born. He died in Noxubee County, Ga.

Thomas Johnson (1735-1803) was a member of the committee of safety, 1775, and of the House of Delegates, 1779. He was born and died in Louisa County, Va.

John Gresham (1759-1818) received bounty land for three years' service as private in the Virginia Continental line. He was born in Virginia; died in Oglethorpe County, Ga.

James Marks (1745-1816) was a signer of the oath of allegiance of Amherst County, Va.

Thomas Scott (1730-1802) commanded a company of Virginia troops during the Revolution. He was born and died in Virginia.
