My database at Rootsweb World Connect Project is currently under revision.
You can still access my old (1998) Family Tree Maker database by clicking on either "Surname Index" or "Personal Name Index" below. The Outline Family Trees found in the Lineages Section of this webpage reflect the updated version of my genealogy data.

My mother's side of the family settled Tensas Parish in Louisiana, and Clay, Copiah, and Pike Counties
of Mississippi having come from Muhlenburg County, KY and Mifflin/Bedford Counties in Pennsylvania (Glenn, Vaught), Northern Alabama (McIntosh, McClure),
Southwest Georgia (Kitchens, Moreland, Tucker, Echols), the Carolinas (Miller,
Chesney, Vernon, Bonds, Whetstone), Virginia, and the Chesapeake (Dixon, Cottingham, Tilghman).
Pictures 1&2 are of my mother's great-grandparents, John Houston McIntosh and Mary Catherine Cottingham McIntosh. They settled in Crystal Springs, Mississippi in Copiah County. Mary Catherine was John Houston's third wife and these photos were probably taken at the time of their 1874 wedding. Photo 3 is of Mary Allene Glenn McIntosh who married John Ephriam McIntosh, a younger son of John Houston McIntosh and Mary Catherine Cottingham. This photo was probably taken at the time of their 1906 wedding. Photo 4 is of Mary Allene's mother, Sarah Rebecca Miller Foster Glenn. Sarah Rebecca Miller was from Clay County, Mississippi but moved to Southern MS after the death of her first husband, Lewellyn McClelland Foster, and her marriage to her second husband, Moses Dan Glenn. This tintype photograph was probably taken at the time of her 1878 marriage to Foster.

Anyone who has participated in any Southern Genealogy research quickly
learns that geography is a key concern. Families moved with surprising
frequency in the 18th and 19th centuries. While there are exceptions
to any rule, most people followed set migration patterns; indeed, many
people followed former neighbors into the newly opened territories.
These lands were quickly organized into counties--the geographic and political
entity most frequently encountered by genealogists.
My current interest is the analysis of migration
patterns in the American South from the post-Revolutionary days until the
turn of the 20th century. In order to assist myself and anyone else
who might be interested, I have listed each county in which I have ancestors
with these ancestors names. Names in ALL CAPS indicate family names from whom I directly descend.
Regular type denotes the last names of individuals who married into the
family. Please click the link below to view the index; I had to move it to another page because of space constraints.
