Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas
which is a product of
incomplete burning or carbon-containing materials
such as gasoline, charcoal,
wood and natural gas.
Symptoms of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Persistent, severe headaches Dizziness, blurred
vision, nausea Fainting, loss of
muscle control Fatigue, waking from sleep
without feeling rested. Rapid
heartbeat or pulse or tightening of chest
Chest pain when exercising Feeling
ill/tired at home but fine upon leaving home
What to do if you suspect CO poisoning?
Get to fresh air immediately!!!!
Call 911
Where does CO come from?
Examples of carbon monoxide producing devices
commonly in use around the
home include:
-Make sure your chimney and flue
pipe are clear and free of debris.
-Do not block furnace air intakes.
-Keep gas grills outside.
-Use kerosene heaters in a well ventilated
area.
-Never idle a vehicle inside a garage.
-Have fuel burning appliances checked
on a yearly basis. (hot water tank, gas stove, etc.)
Most importantly, Get a CO
detector installed
in your home.
