#1 Anthony HENNE, the immigrant was born 1822, in Wurttemberg,
Germany.
It would be difficult to determine what his
last name was in Germany as early as U.S. records (1850-1870) list it as Heay,
Haney, and Heaney. He probably came to America sometime between 1840 and
1846.
He and his wife, Margaret Deschner, settled in
Pinegrove Township, a sparsely populated rural area in Pennsylvania, where he
took up farming. In 1850 the value of his real property was $500. In 1860 the
value of his real property was $1,500 and his personal property was $400. In
1870 real property had increased to $4,000 and personal property was $400.
His date of death is not known, but he was
still living at Pinegrove Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania as late as
1898. Anthony HENNE married in Germany-
Margaret Deschner born in Baden, Germany. The
daughter of Mr. & Margaret Deschner

After Bertha Henne's death in 1978 the home was
given to Marietta College. Although a difficult decision to make, the College's

some surrounding land, has been made into a very attractive open park-like area

the campus.
The remainder of the estate totaled over a
