Lisa, Melody, Roxxi, Ambush & Stardust Kelly

Hi! My name is Lisa, but that doesn't REALLY matter right now, because this page is dedicated ENTIRELY to my cats... (oops!... I mean my KIDS!) Melody, Roxxi, Ambush & Stardust. I'm in a wheelchair, and I've heard that pets can be theraputic, plus I've ALWAYS loved cats! So, having said that, let's get on with their story...

Melody

"Hi! My name is Melody, and I was born on March 20, 1995 in Hollywood, CA., in the basement of Mommy's building. I've heard that she told Lilly, my other mother Susanna's human, that she wanted a black female kitten, if she had one. She did, and it was ME! My three sisters and my brother were born happy and healthy, but when Mommy went down to the basement to do laundry, she could tell that something was wrong with me. She thought I was a gonner, until she picked me up, and I screamed at her! It was really more of a "SQUEEK", but it felt like a scream to me! So she put me back in the basket with my family, but they kicked me out again! Then Mommy picked me up and carried me up to her apartment, where she called someone named "Humane Society(!?)". This person told Mommy how to hold, clean, and feed me. The next day, we went somewhere scary, but Mommy said it was a good place called "the vet's office". I didn't like them because they made Mommy cry. They told her that I would die, but Mommy said that I wouldn't... even though they did tests, and told her that I had stuff called brain damage, because I didn't breathe right when I was born, plus I was really small. Then Mommy got mad and they gave me medicine, which made ME mad! But Mommy said it was O.K. to take it, so I did (except for the times that I spit it allover her-- he-he!). When I was 2-months-old, I started to suck on Mommy's wrist, and when she asked the vet why, he said that it's because Susanna didn't nurse me when I was a baby, so I STILL get away with it! Mommy is in the music business, so she named me "Melody" after a song that she likes, and I love my nickname, "Silly-Boo", also. I don't mean to brag, but BIG IS BEAUTIFUL, and I'm Mommy's favorite! I'm almost 3-years-old now, I weigh 19 pounds, and I'm goona kick Mommy's butt if she says "10-4, Big Kitty!" to me ONE MORE TIME!"

Roxxi

"Hi, my name is Roxxi! I'm a cute, petite bronze Egyptian Mau/Tortie and I was born in October, 1995. I don't remember much about my kitten-hood, but I remember December 6th., the day Mommy and Melody adopted me! I think Melody had a vet appointment that day, so I saw them go past me... my other family was mean to me, and they left me under a bush in Hollywood that day. I wasn't there for very long, but when Mommy went by me, I started crying and looking really sad, so she would let me live with her... and guess what?!... IT WORKED!!! She only had one Kitty-Carrier that day, so we borrowed another one from Melody's new vet, Dr. Long. Then Mommy made us get on a big, scary monster, which she called a "bus", and I was home safe! Since Mommy didn't have much money, she gave us some tuna for dinner. Melody liked it, but I didn't (and I didn't like Melody, either), so I did the only thing any cute kitten would do... I did a "no-no" in the tuna! Then Mommy went into the other room to call GrandMa, and I made Melody cry again; I like water, and that big dish of water looked like so much fun that I went for a swim!!! But I got in trouble, so I chased Melody around the house for an hour (he-he!)! We eventually started getting along better, and now I love my BIG sister! I don't mean to brag, but the cutest thing about me is the fact that I have an extra claw on each of my front paws (Mommy calls me "Thumb-Toe"!). My other nickname is "Lovie-Boo" because even though I'm a little hyper, I'm sweet (especially when Mommy and her friends let me follow them into the bathroom and drink out of the faucet). Melody tried to stop me once, so I pushed her into the toilet tried to flush her to Long Beach!!!"

Ambush

"Hi! My name is Ambush (actually, it's Sir Ambush William Kelly the First), and I don't mean to brag, but the royal title fits me perfectly! I was born in September, 1996. My real mother lived with people who weren't very happy about having kittens around, so they put my six sisters and I in a cage and wouldn't let her feed us. Luckily, we all found good families to live with. I was the hardest to give away, because I was the only boy. But then Mommy came along... she was looking for a black & white tuxedo kitten to adopt, and it had to be a boy! (It seems as though Mommy grew up with a little guy just like me, named B.J., who went to Rainbow Bridge in 1990 when he was 13-years-old, escorted by a coyote). Anyway, Mommy came over to meet me, but when she got there, something awful happened! Mommy fell in love with my Calico sister, and named her "Willow". I was really jealous -- she knew she could only take one of us, and how could anyone resist MOI?!!! That's when I came up with a plan... it was raining that day, so Mommy had to be careful with the Kitty-Carrier strapped to her buggy (she just calls it a "wheelchair" because she doesn't know any better!). I waited for them to leave, then I ran out the door and chased Mommy down the street yelling "ME, ME!", until I won her over and she gave Willow back! So we got on the big buggy (Mommy just calls it a "bus" because she doesn't know any better!) and went home, where I met (and irritated) my new sisters, Melody and Roxxi."

Mommy

Hi, this is Lisa again, and I get to tell you what happened next... I went to visit my family in Arizona for Christmas of 1996, leaving my "babies" in the care of my best friend, LaJenna, who was to come over to check on them and feed them every day. She called me on Christmas Day to give me the worst news I've ever heard... My apartment had been destroyed by a fire in the basement! As far as anyone could tell, I had lost EVERYTHING-- including all three of the cats. I flew home the next day, and rushed over to sort through the wreckeage (and what was left of my life). As LaJenna and I entered the apartment, we couldn't see anything, and all we could smell was smoke. I wanted to leave as quickly as possible, and on the way out, we ran into my neighbor Eric, who informed me that not only was Ambush waiting in his apartment for me, but that Melody also survived!!! She ran away from him, but at least she made it through the fire, and it was up to Mommy to find her. Just then, LaJenna realized that she left something in my apartment, so we went back, and were greeted at the door by Roxxi (she was hiding, and Eric never saw her)! I had a feeling that Roxxi would be the one most likely to make it out of there. But I was still a Mommy on a mission-- I had to find Melody! She had never been away from me for longer than 24 hours, plus she's never been out-doors. Roxxi, Ambush and I moved in with LaJenna, and for the next 3 weeks, I would take the bus up to Hollywood to look for Melody, rain or shine, every day. One night when we went to Hollywood (pretty late) I was just going to check my mailbox and go home... but something drew me to my front door, and when I inadvertantly said "Melody", I heard frantic MEOWing comming from the apartment, and I knew who it was! LaJenna ran to get the landlord, who opened the door for me. Melody ran to me, jumped up in my lap, and licked my face!!! I cried, LaJenna nearly passed out, and Melody was so excited that she wet on me (hey, what are Mommies for?)! We got on the bus and went home... my family was finally reunited, and about to grow again!

Stardust

"Hi! My name is Stardust, and I'm the newest addition to the Kelly household. Mommy found me after she moved in with Auntie LaJenna, and she couldn't have come along at a better time! I was living in the basement, alone, and I was pregnant. I don't mean to brag, but I guess she fell in love with the fact that I'm such a pretty silver and platinum color. Her original plan was to take care of me until I gave birth, then have me spayed and find me a new family, but I tricked her! I heard her say that she couldn't give away a pet if it learned the name she gave it, so I came up with a plan... I waited until D-day, then I responded to my name (he-he!)! Things are pretty good around here, with the exeption that I'm really jumpy, and Roxxi hates me, but I think everything will work out O.K. for us."

The End...

(for now!)
