LUCY'S HOMETOWN FESTIVALS! Want to experience Lucy in a way you've never imagined? Visit JAMESTOWN NY during an annual festival! Have popcorn under the stars at night white watching Lucy in downtown Jamestown... attend a Lucy auction (watch out for the crazed redhead in the audience though - me!!)... visit the Museum... attend book signings... take a tour of Lucy's hometown (we took a bus tour narrated by Frank Gorey, Lucy's friend & chauffer of many years & spoke with him at length during a cemetery visit while others walked... meet actual cast members, friends & family of Lucy & Desi... attend great meet & greets... see creative & fun shows... attend interviews with the people who knew Lucy best - and listen in on personal, heartwarming stories that you'd never hear elsewhere. Attending the August Festival in 2005 was truly an experience I will treasure forever, and one I plan to repeat year after year. Next year, I hope to be able to meet and Wanda Clark, Lucy's friend & secretary for many years - we didn't get the opportunity to last year. Also, Michael Stern - just to meet a man who so adored Lucy. Of course, Lucie & Desi Jr - but don't know if I could take it - hell, someone like Mel Gibson could walk past me without me blinking an eye - after all, he's just a guy, I don't get starstruck AT ALL ... but Lucy & Desi's CHILDREN - that's greatness! I'd stutter and babble.

Learn a bit more about Mr. Ric Wyman! He truly adores Lucy, and wants everyone to have the best experience they can while visiting Jamestown... while working hard to keep Jamestown in the media so it can continue to grow & thrive.

LUCIE ARNAZ! A lovely lady, a true talent - visit & see for yourself!

LUCY'S CHILDHOOD HOME SAVED!
A MUST READ! Learn how Lucy's Childhood Celoron NY home was saved. (We had the great pleasure to meet the Rapaports & they were hoot... down to earth, energetic & fun! That Mary was a ball of fire - we had the pleasure of sitting with them at a Lucy function and chatting for quite some time BEFORE we knew who they were. About 30min into the event, they were applauded for their hard work and dedication - to our surprise, we were sitting with them. Mary... this year maybe we can find some time to sneak in a bottle of wine between all the running around!!) Is it sacreligious to say let's drink a toast to Lucy in the house? Don't know if my heart could take it - I might just keel over. Only fellow Lucy fans can understand the emotions that come over you when you are surrounded by everything Lucy, including the stories, the laughter, the reality of it all. And the fact that she is no longer here. To stand in her childhood home one day - the same one that I saw in the videos where her cousin & confidante CLEO narrated a walkthrough - would be one heck of an amazing experience.

MEET Melody Thomas Scott! Here it is! The ideal gift for the "Young & The Restless" fan in your life--or maybe just for you! Just make a tax deductible donation of $1000 to Melody's favorite not-for-profit organization--The Lucy-Desi Museum-- where she’s a founding board member--and the Museum will make arrangements for 2 people to visit the Y&R set (at Television City in Hollywood) to watch Melody tape her scenes! See website for details.

The following are not Links - but TIPS!!

YOU MUST visit the new Desilu Playhouse at the Rapaport Center! Located in the former Rite Aid building at West 3rd St & Main in Jamestown, it houses authentic lifesize reproductions of the I LOVE LUCY sets... the New York Apartment and the Hollywood Hotel. It was made possible by a $500,000 gift from William & Mary Rapaport and was announced at the closing of the Lucy-Desi Days in May 2005. It was OPEN by Lucy’s Birthday Celebration in August - which I attended!! Yes, the same Rapaports responsible for saving Lucy's home. A special ribbon-cutting event was held in October 2005, with Lucie Arnaz hosting the first “Legacy of Laughter” Seminar in October. The Playhouse also showcases some great old memorabilia, along with a gift shop in the front. Upstairs is the Tropicana Room... where you can catch a show or event, especially during the Lucy Festivals. You will be in awe - I know I was!

And when I mention Book Signings and Meet & Greets - you will meet THE LUCY SCHOLARS... the cream of the crop when it comes to Lucy friends & fans! Tom Watson, Elisabeth Edwards, Michael Stern, Melody Thomas Scott, Keith Thibodeaux (talk about me BABBLING - I still don't recall getting a single word out without stuttering!), Wanda Clark, Teensy & Weensy, and so many more! If they aren't there - others surely will be. The JAMESTOWN experiences truly are Lucy FESTivals in every sense of the word - you will walk away feeling, well - warm & fuzzy all over, and a bit sad too - because you just don't want it to end.

A Final Word... If I sound enthusiastic & eager to share my Jamestown experience, it's because I AM. If only I lived close to Jamestown, I guarantee I would have begged my way into helping with the Lucy experience. I was in awe. The people were fantastic - the fruit of their labor was apparent & greatly appreciated. It would mean the world to me to be able to help preserve the memories, experience them with fellow fans, and to share them with new generations. Perhaps later in life I will be able to help - right now I am armed with my keyboard sitting here in New Jersey. Enjoy the website - but if you take anything away with you, be sure it's a membership in the Museum, and if at all possible, a visit to an upcoming Lucy Festival. Tell 'em Lisa sent you!!

DIANE VINCENT - Lucy impersonator EXTRAORDINARE!
(Thanks for the laughter!)

Here's a picture of me, Lisa with my hubby Scott - the man who treated me to a surprise Anniversary gift... the Gift of Lucy! He arranged the trip, and we went into the events headfirst! If you see us on the streets of Jamestown during a Festival - please stop & say HELLO - would love to meet those of you who drop me such wonderful emails in person! - Lisa

THANKS - please take a moment or two & visit my other Lucy pages.
