"To Be With You Again"
Author unknown
We think of you in silence
And often speak your name,
But all that's left to answer
Is your picture in a frame.
If we could have one lifetime wish,
One dream that would come true,
We would pray to God with
all our hearts
For yesterday and you!
If tears could build a stairway
And heartaches make a lane,
We would walk our way to
Heaven
To be with you again!
This is an excerpt from a poem written by his brother Kyle, after John’s death. Kyle loved his brother deeply. It broke his heart to watch him leave us.:
On the first day of winter, the final leaf fell; The branches brittle, no longer felt, and the wind failed to pass through and out. Existence has ended; blackness and cold moved about. Was he somewhere: Was he anywhere?
In a field of flowers, one that grows ugly and wrong thrives on the sun and sucks the nutrients from the virgin soil; to remain day after day. The most beautiful flower however, comes today and blooms a wonderful light, yet by night it is gone; never seen and we are left with many ugly flowers, and only memories of beauty. And I cry to whomever; is this fair?

There are mem’ries meant for sharing
And others meant to keep,
Some lie just beneath the surface,
Still others hidden deep
Some are filled with laughter,
Others hold a tear,
Some are sweet and gentle,
And some remember fear.
Some are of the good times,
Some are of the bad,
Some still make me happy,
But some still make me sad.
As day to day I travel
Upon life’s golden quest
I feel with all my being
I’ve been most richly blest.
For once within my lifetime
There was a deep-felt joy,
And always I’ll remember-
I loved a special boy.
