Joan's Home Page

Hi, I'm Joan Fahlgren.

I originally wrote these tutorials for my friends to whom I was always promoting PhotoImpact. I really haven't done much to it so far since PhotoImpact 5 came out, but most of the PI 4 content is still applicable although the menus look just a bit different. PI 6 is now out and I haven't worked with it much either. There are now a lot of tutorials for the more advanced features of PI, however I still get emails from new users and I believe that people are still getting copies of PI 4 with scanners. The interface of the program has changed a bit from version to version, but the tools that I have addressed here still work in pretty much the same way.

These are not officially sanctioned techniques or necessarily the only way to do things, but are methods that I have developed from using the program and that I believe are an easy way to do things. I have found the manual rather difficult to understand. Most of what I do has come from trial and error. I encourage you to experiment on your own. I also would appreciate hearing from anyone who has an easier way of doing something. I would be happy to add your techniques to these explanations and give you credit.

Since I first wrote these, PhotoImpact seems to be gathering a bigger following. I think it is more user friendly than PSP and will do just about anything you want to do in the way of web graphics. There is now an HTML friendly newsgroup, best read with Outlook Express at Annexcafe.

Outlook Express Stationery

My primary interest in creating and manipulating graphics is the creation of stationery for Outlook Express. I have put a little of it up for people to download. Click here to get to the index to the stationery:

If you are interested in Outlook Express Stationery you should look at the following newsgroup:
Microsoft's Home for Stationery Creation, lots of help here. There are also some stationery groups on the PI group on the Annexcafe server.
