Louis/Lewis Deshazo’s parents have not been absolutely proven. So far as I know, there are two theories that currently exist. One is that this is the son of a Robert and “Mollie” (Trevellian) Deshazo. This can be viewed by going back to the MORE Deshazo Ancestors page and clicking on Robert Deshazo (b.ca.1730 VA). The second is that he is the son of a Peter Deshazo (b.ca. 1730 VA). Peter is also listed on the page mentioned.

Louis first appears on the 1790 census of Edgefield, SC as “Lewis Deshasee”, with himself (ov 16 yrs.) and 3 females in his household (Robert Deshazo listed listed next to him with 4 males ov 16, 2 females and 4 slaves). On the 1800 Edgefield census, he is shown as “Lewis Derlaser”, age 26-45, 2 males under 10, three females under 10 and 1 female 26-45 years old. Next to him here is a William Deshazo with 2 males 26-45, 2 under 10, one female under 10, and one female 26-45 years old. He must have moved on to Georgia before 1813, as he appears on the 1813 Putnam Co., GA tax list. Also, his son, Larkin is shown born in GA by 1806. In 1815, a Luraney Deshazo marries William King in Putnam County, GA (marriage records). In 1818, Lewis/Louis dies and his will is can be accessed from the main DESHAZO ANCESTORS webpage. By 1830, Louis' children can be seen moving on to Alabama. Some eventually moved into Mississippi.
