A Richard Deshazo is shown first on the Twiggs County land tax digest paying taxes on 250 acres of land in Early Co., GA in 1826. It is interesting to note, that although he is shown paying tax in Early Co., he is listed in and with the William, and Robert Deshazo entries in the land tax digest. Richard has been established as the son of William Deshazo on 1826 store account records in Marion, Twiggs county, Georgia. Records are shown in May and October as "William Deshazo paid per son, Richard". In 1827, A Richard and a Robert Deshazo are shown as witnesses on a Houston Co. land deed for purchaser, John Deshazo (resident of Bulloch Co, GA) of land in Houston Co., GA. There is a very probably relation here. Next, Richard is found on three records in 1830 Twiggs County, GA. First, paying tax on 202 and 1/2 acres; second, in estate records as Administrator for the estate of William Deshazo; and third on the 1830 census of Twiggs County, GA. The Twiggs county tax digest shows Richard as Admin. for the estate of William Deshazo, who resided in Monroe County, GA. Richard is named as guardian for an Eliza Deshazo. Eliza is granted 202 acres of land from the estate of William Deshazo. A Walker Deshazo is also shown being granted land from the estate of William Deshazo. It is interesting that the same land lot (208, in district 7) is shown in 1833 under the name of Larkin W. Deshazo. In an 1830 notice posted in "The Georgia Journal", Richard is shown requesting to be dismissed as the term administrator of the estate of Barbara Deshazo. I suspect that this may be the same Barbara that is shown in the 1795 Edgefield County, South Carolina deed with William, she being his wife - Richard's mother.

In 1837, both Richard and a Robert Deshazo are shown as executors of the will of William Deshazo. They post a notice for the sale for lot 208. I don’t know if Larkin W. was a son of William, or a nephew, but indications are that both Robert and Richard were sons of William (b.ca.1755 prob. NC).

The 1850 census shows Richard at age 48, with his second wife , Mary. She is much younger than him, which may explain the ‘problem’ mentioned in his will (see ‘Wills’ on the main Deshazo Ancestors page). Two of Richard’s children are also shown on this census; Susan, age 12 b. GA; and Louisa 6 b. GA. In 1853, Richard is shown as deceased with Robert Deshazo named as “term Admin. of Est.” for Richard’s 202 acres and two slaves. These two daughters are the only children specifically mentioned in Richard’s will. I find it thought provoking that Richard specifically mentions in his will that his brother has no children of yet. I wonder if there was another man that we do not have the name of. Maybe Robert was his uncle instead of brother. Anyway, it's "food for thought". By the way, His will can be viewed from the main DESHAZO ANCESTOR page, under WILLS.

NOTE: All these Deshazo’s are very likely related. PLEASE keep in mind that the above surmise is a result of my own research, based on documents that I have found. There are still MANY “loop holes”! Alot of hands and time are needed to research these areas to try and “uncover” more documents that will shed evidences of certainty on the lives of these folks.
