A Spider's Web for
Leah
I
made this spider's web for my daughter to pin on her bulletin board at
college. I used no pattern, but implemented a technique described in
Mary Konior's book "Tatting with Visual Patterns." She calls this
type of tatting "free tatting". In this case I used all chains, and
tried to vary the lengths to imitate a spider's web. I used two strands
of Gutterman polyester sewing thread, light blue and light gray.
For the maximum effect, I have included the tiny plastic spider we bought
at the dime store, which started this whole project. All my love
to Leah, enjoy your web!
