Hi Carol. It sounds more to me like you are describing the Topmost ares and peoples of Right Beaver Creek in Knott County. That's where I was born and grew up. My folks and 2 of 3 sisters, and I now live in central Georgia (around, but not in, Atlanta). I was back in Fl yd Co., over Halloween weekend 1999, for the funeral of my dad's oldest sister. (He lives in West Carrollton, Ohio now (so do I) ) He is the son of Green Johnson(former sherrif) and Mary Bryant Johnson. She passed away in 1966. He passed away in 19 1. I have 4 sisters still living there. I am new to all of this,but enjoyed your site very much. I was married to Robert Johns Salisbury from 1946 until 1966 and was president of the Auxiliary to the Kentucky Medical Association. I would very much like to hear from some of the older people I ha e known in Prestonsburg. Eastern Ky is a beautiful part of the state and I spent many happy years in Mt. I have a suspicion that I may be kin of yours, even though pretty far back. My4th grandmother was Tabitha Howell d/o James Howell of Ashe County, North Carolina near Sparta. She was married to John Taliaferro/Tolliver. Their grandson, my great grandfat er was Jacob Finley "Finn" Tolliver of Elliott County. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
