From the years 1844 to 1848 Johnson was formed into a County. Silas was the only
Ratliff residing in the area at that time. The 1850 Johnson County census show his
son James dau-in-law Rebecca J.(Blanton) Ratliff, and son John and dau-in-law Tempy
(Blanton) Ratliff all lived with him and Anna. It is believed by myself that this
Silas and "Silas Ratcliffe" is one and the same person. Their were several "Silas's"
in this time period. Anna Spradlin's father and mother were James B-1785  D-Ca-1870
     1880 Rachel (Connelley) Spradlin  B-Apr.8 1783  D-Jun.7 1855  they are both buried
in the Old James  Spradlin Cemetery in Denver Ky. Silas and Anne are also buried
there. Their is also a Reuben, and a Lewis Ratliff buried in this same cemetery.
Their dates are, Reuben D-1848, Lewis D-Nov.1840. Lewis was married to a Sarah
Spradlin. Rachel's parents were Capt. Henry Connelley and Ann(MacGregor)Connelley.
Silas married a second time in Sep. 1 1881 to Martha Blanton she was 27 years of
age, which would have made her born in 1854. Silas was 68 at this time. In the days
of Silas and Anna Ratliff travel was slow and times were hard. You prospered by the
amount of hard work you wished to do, and if you farmed you needed a large family to
help, it seemed the bigger the family the better the life, so large family's they
had. The descendants of Silas and Anna in 1995 span the globe of this great planet,
they work in almost all professions, and can be found anywhere. When people say they
aren't related to those Ratliff's they are wrong. When you see where you came from,
then maybe you can see where your going. I am very proud to say I'm a member of the
     Ratliff Family.

      William and Alsey(       )Blanton.
This chapter will encase as much of the history of "James Ratliff" and
his descendants as possible. He was born in Floyd County Kentucky a county that
would in the 1850's be split into several other counties, so where James was born
after the split was then called Johnson County.
He was the fourth issue of Silas and Anna (Spradlin) Ratliff. In two
marriages James fathered 13 children. He is the Great Grandfather of this
researcher, being that I am the Grandson of Harvey Ratliff the fourth issue of
      Jame's first marriage.

This was James second marriage he was 41, it was Delilah's first she was
25 years of age, she was sometime's called "Lillie". Delilah was the dau of
John and Elizabeth (Horn) Spradlin. One census report shows a Frank Ratliff
living with James & Polly. Family members have indicated to me that this
Frank was a member of another family living with them.
Frank B-Jul.   1887 D-Dec. 1 1959. This may hold true as I have not been able
to find him in this lineage.

The 1880 census shows that Elizabeth Burget, age 30 yrs, is the daughter of
Silas and Anna Ratliff, it also shows, Ella Burget age 10, Thomas Burget age 7,
David Burget and John Burget no age was given. All of these children are Silas's
grandchildren from Elizabeth''s first marriage. Elizabeth married second to
Harvey Blanton on May 14 1881 in Johnson County Ky. From this date of marriage
I do not think that John was a Burget but a Blanton since he wasn't born untill
13 months after this second marriage, this would only hold true if the census
dates are correct on his birth.
