The Wise County Historical Society

The parent organization of The Appalachian Quarterly, The National Melungeon Registry and The Southern Appalachian Ancestral Registry was formed in August of 1993.

The officers of The Wise County Historical Society are:

President:  William C. Gobble
Vice-President:  Denver Osborne
Treasurer:  Wanda Rose
Corresponding Secretary:  Rhonda Robertson
Recording Secretary:  Dorothy Witt

Membership dues to the Society are $10.00 per year and include a subscription to The Appalachian Quarterly. Please include your name, postal mailing address and phone number, and e-mail address if you have one.

The Historical Society maintains archives in the Wise County Courthouse located on Main Street in Wise, VA. Help us preserve Appalachian genealogy. Please submit your family ancestral charts and groups sheets for preservation in our archives. You may submit either copies by mail or on computer disk. Submit in GedCom or in Family Tree Maker, Brothers Keeper, Family Gathering or PAF. You may send your files via the Internet to Rhonda Robertson at: rsr@mounet.com. We will print your material, bind it and place it in our archives with your name and address so that anyone tracing these families can contact you directly.
