Almost directly across the river from the Girl Scouts' headquarters on Rice Mine Road is the Boy Scouts of America Black Warrior Council HQ. Approaching the western bypass system and fourth bridge from Tuscaloosa along Jack Warner Parkway, this is the final landmark (currently) before the turn onto the bypass. |
Soon this area will be transformed, from a wooded parallel to the railroad tracks and river -- a buffer between rural Holt and industrial Tuscaloosa and the U of A -- into a signed approach to the Western Bypass around Tuscaloosa/Northport. It's not the most beautiful area in the world to tromp around, but it does provide a pleasant contrast with the development around Holt, Alberta City and along the river itself. |
