Recollections of
Buster
Keaton
Buster Keaton was a true genius
of comedy.
He is widely renown for his great
talent and many classic films.
At the age of 18 in 1929,
an aspiring Dorothy Lee attended
her first big Hollywood Party at Buster Keaton's lavish Italian style mansion
that he had built for his wife Natalie Talmadge.
She said that she had never been
so impressed in all her life than when she saw Buster Keaton do one of
his acrobatic acts by falling down the stairs.
She remembered:
"It
was my first big party and I was 18 and still pretty green. And I’ll never
forget Buster Keaton. He was the sweetest, nicest man you could ever know.
He never smiled, but he would always crack jokes and be very funny.
Anyway, at the party we were
all in the family room. For Buster’s grand entrance, he appeared at the
top of the stairs. Then he fell all the way down them! We all just about
fainted from the shock of it. But he was perfectly fine, and surprised
us all.
It was just a riot!"
